The Book of Magic

For three hundred years, a curse has brought death or tragedy to anyone who loves a member of the Owens family. When Aunt Jet reads her own death in a deathwatch beetle and a young man's life is in danger, three generations of Owens women and a long-lost brother set out to break it.

Their search takes them from Paris to London to the English countryside where their ancestor Maria Owens first practised magic, and brings out the secrets their mother has kept. The last book in Alice Hoffman's Practical Magic series.
