The story explores what it really means to be human and that no matter how far you try and throw it away, we are and will always be human -- with all the foibles and follies and joys it brings.It's a seminal work in the fantasy genre and one of the best fairy tale fantasy stories I've had the pleasure of reading. Even after nearly 40 years it still stands the test of time. It's a tale that like good wine only improves with age.
